Fun at Fiddlestick

Last Tuesday (27 Dec) was the final day for Gavin's Christmas holidays. We headed for Fiddlestick Family Fun marj after having lunch at COSCO. We wanted to drive the go-karts initially but it was kind of expensive. Moreover, Chrysla is not tall enough to be the driver. Instead, we had fun playing the two mini-golf courses. As usual, i am the camera woman again. : - ).

We had a lot of fun...... especiallly Chrysla. Enjoy the photos we have for you.

Be-Yourself-Day-2004

31st Aug 2004 was the Be-Yourself-Day contest for De La Salle School. Be-Yoursell-Day is an annual event of the President's Challenge fund raising programme. The students will donoate a sum of money and they are allowed to wear anything they like.

This was the second year that De La Salle organised the event. Hmmm...... should I get Chrysla to participate? What should I get her to wear? A fairy? Neh.....too common. A princess? Neh..... too common too. So i browsed through the costumes websites and aha! An astronaut costume! it has a helmet, an inflatable tank and the suit. This will be great. She will be different. : -)

I prepared the speech for her, taught her how to do her space walking. She went through the audition without any fear. Everything was going on smoothly until we heard the news. President Nathan would be coming to De La Salle on 31st Aug to watch the Be-Yourself-Day contest. Oh Gosh.... our Principal, Mrs Wang, was very excited. She wanted everything to be perfect for President Nathan that she started to oversee the rehearsals of the Be-Yourself-Day.

Finally the big day arrived. President Nathan was in DLS to watch the concert. There were also a few reporters around. The concert was a success. i was very elated to learn that Chrysla was one of the winners for the contest. She won herself a Times $50 gift vouchers. When President Nathan presented her with the present, she did not even look at him and thank him. Instead, she was busy looking at the reporters who were busy taking pictures.

The next day was Teachers' Day, a school holiday. We were at Orchard Road and I wanted to buy The New Paper as I knew that there would definitely be some reports on our school. Oh gosh, Gavin was the one who saw Chrysla's picture on the front page of TNP and he quickly showed it to me. We bought two sets of TNP. Hee.....

Chrysla is sick

Sigh..... Chrysla has been sick since Monday (19 Dec 05).  She has throat infection and it causes her to have a fever.  Her fever subsided on Monday night and we all thought it was okay for her to go back to school on Tuesday.  She was running a high fever by the time I fetched her from school.  Her throat was so bad that she did not even talk.  She kept very quiet which was very unlike her.  So on Wednesday morning, we had no choice but to bring her to a doctor.  We went to Kids First clinic which was recommended by Jay, Gavin's professor.  Alas! They do not take walk-ins.  This is so troublesome and frustrating! In Singapore, we could just pop into the clinics. In addition, the pediatrician was out for emergency call.  Luckily, the staff was nice enough to tell us another clinic nearby, Urgent Care.  Since Chrysla has no medical insurance coverage, it costs $105 for doctor consultation.  And guess what? The clinic only charged us $80 in the end.  I have no idea why.  Maybe Chrysla looked pitiful at that time.  : - )  Plus $36 for the antibiotics. All in all, we spent $116.  Wow!  This is really very expensive.  in Singapore, the bill will be no more than S$30 with medicines.

She is still sick now... so I guess we will just have to spend our Christmas at home. I really wish she will be well by this weekend.
